GET THAT DREAM JOB BY LOVING WHAT YOU DO

Do What You Love

I am attending Francis Tuttle Vo-Tech to fulfill a goal of “Web Development.  A fast-paced 18-month course that is very enriching.  I love what I am learning regarding Web Development but I find myself concerned about future employment.  Many employment ads state requirements of Bachelor’s, Master’s or years of experience.

I recently read “Meet Uber’s Software Engineer Apprentices” that made me excited that companies are looking at desire and love of the field instead of solely traditional education.  In this article, the interviewed employees had jobs that were far from the software engineer position they strive to obtain.  All interviewed employees came to know programming through a desire to enhance lives and an excitement to learn coding.
Uber recognizes the love and desire to do a job can be more important than typical schooling.   They provide an apprentice program for non-traditional engineers that have not completed traditional undergraduate computer science.  It is a grueling 6-month coding boot camp but the result is worth it both to the apprentice and the company.
I have the love to code and continue to learn everything I can to make lives easier.  This article made me realize the potential to obtain a position with a caring company is there without the typical Bachelor or Master requirement.  I am excited to continue along this path and intend to put my time and heart into it.
